Chewing Gum by Franki Diaz
Like a piece of chewing gum,
She tends to stick around.
To her users, she is loyal;
To her users, she is bound.
“Longest lasting flavor!”
Printed nice and bright,
Pretty, packaged, on the shelf,
Why don’t you take a bite?
Her users like her flavor,
Addicted to her taste,
Fruity, zesty, colorful,
In their pockets, she’s encased.
Unwrapped and chewed she is,
She’s spit onto the floor:
A cycle she’s experienced,
Too many times before.
Unwrapped and chewed she is,
She’s spit onto the floor,
Until her lasting flavor,
Is flavorful no more.
